Operation Christmas Child – Shoebox items still needed!

Posted in Updates by admin on November 2, 2011

ATTENTION: We still need additional items for the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes! Here’s what we still need: Small toys, very small stuffed animals, individually packaged toothbrushes, candy (no chocolate, but tootsie rolls are okay), and trial size or small size toothpaste.  Bring this Sunday, if you can, so we’ll know if we have enough before next Wednesday.

Lincoln Home Ministry – Brian Center – Lincolnton- Tuesdays at 6:30 PM!!

We’ve had some new faces joining us at the rest home, but we’d love to see more!

Not sure about it?  Here’s what to expect: We meet in the lobby around 6:20, fellowship a few minutes while the instruments get tuned up then we go down each hall stopping twice to sing two or three songs, all the while we may individually pop into a few rooms to greet the residents and let them know that we care about them. We’ll also stop to pray with those that ask for it. While this is going on, sometimes our little ones will be handing out tracts. It’s always a blessing to us as we strive to be a blessing to them. There are six halls and we usually visit 3 of them a week, and the event lasts about a hour. Some grab a bite to eat afterwords at one of the local fast food restaurants.
What do we sing? Hymns and older Gospel songs that the residents know and love, plenty of songs of encouragement about the wonderful Heaven that awaits. Many will follow us in their wheelchairs because they don’t want to miss a single song.  Donald Beal leads the singing and Katherine  picks the songs (It won’t take long for you to realize that the Holy Spirit is adding input on the song choices!)
So come on out every Tuesday night at the Brian Center and you’ll be a blessing to everyone there, and you’ll get a blessing, too. Sometimes, when we get to singing about our saviour, we “have church” right there in the halls!
If you don’t do much singing, and that’s discouraging you, then listen up!:  We’re not looking for “singers”, but all voices that love the Lord!  Come on out and give it a try! Everyone is welcome!

(If there is a cancellation due to illness or weather, we’ll try to get it on the Phone Tree / Prayer Chain in time to let everyone know)
